Where to stay in Dahlonega for Christmas

The short answer

To walk to the lights, stay on or beside the square: the downtown authority lists one hotel directly on the square and several inns and boutique hotels within a short walk. For more space, look at cabins and vacation rentals in the hills. Opening weekend and the parade weekend are the biggest dates, so book those early.

How to choose

  • You want to walk everywhere. Stay downtown. You can leave the car parked for the whole visit.
  • You are bringing a group. Cabins and vacation rentals in the hills give you a kitchen and a fireplace. You will drive in and park for events.
  • You are coming for one event. Opening weekend (November 27) and parade weekend (December 12) are the two biggest dates on the schedule. Book those as early as you can.

The visitors bureau groups the rest of the area’s lodging into inns, cabins and vacation rentals, hotels, resorts, campgrounds and pet-friendly stays.
